League of United Latin American Citizens
The oldest and largest continually active Latino organization in the United States was originally called the United Latin American Citizens, It is the first nationwide Mexican American civil rights organization. This site provides advocacy information and news on a variety of topics.

Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF)

MALDEF, a nonprofit organization founded in San Antonio, Texas in 1968, specializes in Latino litigation, advocacy and educational outreach. Information included in the site covers the areas of education, immigration, political access, language, and public resource equity issues.


National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)
The NAACP is the oldest civil rights organization in the United States. Founded in 1909. It works to ensure the political, education, social and economic equality of rights for African Americans, as well as others, and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination. NCES National Assessment of Educational Progress
The National Assessment of Educational Progress, a project of the NCES, is an ongoing assessment of student achievement. This website provides data for individual states, data tables and reports.

NCLBGrassroots.org
A website that tracks news articles from every state on the No Child Left Behind Act reporting information and news about NCLB and its effects across the United States. It seeks to capture growing concern by highlighting key issues such as the Federal role in education policy, the narrowing of curriculum, teacher flexibility, class size, funding burden, and standardized tests.

Rand Education
This nonprofit organization aims to provide information on such critical social and economic issues as education, poverty, crime, and the environment, as well as a range of national security issues. The site includes analytical and statistical reports.

Texas League of United Latin American Citizens
Texas LULAC is a Latino civil rights organization for advancing the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, health and civil rights of Latinos. The site includes a timeline of the Latinos/as’ struggles for justice and equity in Texas going back to 1929.
